We hear a lot about dysfunctional families. But, what exactly is a functional family? Paige and I discuss a wonderful article we found in Ensign magazine written by James D. McArthur, PhD, which describes in detail what a functional family is. No family is perfect, but maybe with a good map we can all strive to do a bit better. Our song is Better Day by Polaradio. We’re almost through our first week of school. I can honestly say that I wasn’t as prepared as I wanted to be. I was a bit distracted with Taylor getting his driver’s license and figuring out his transportation to and from school. So, this week hit me hard! Then we talk about Paige’s latest hobby – BUNNIES! Now its my turn to share what we did on our family vacation. We headed back to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where we enjoyed the sand, surf and fishing for crabs. But before we did that, we drove to Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore Estate and was pleasantly surprised by the town of Asheville. What an incredibly fun community this was! This was a great family trip! Our song is Baby I’ve Changed by Adam Richman. Thanks to Dixie for sponsoring our show!

A recent USA Today article by Sharon Jayson claims that families are more in harmony now then ever before. Certainly since the Boomers were kids. Paige and I discuss this fascinating article which compares today’s families to the discord endured by families in the 60s and 70s. How’s your family harmony doing? Today’s Asthma Tip: Grass and tree pollen are common spring asthma triggers. Try to keep young children with asthma indoors on those dry, hot, windy days. Keeping windows closed and using an air conditioner may also be helpful. Visit www.AsthmaTRACKTest.com to learn more about common asthma triggers.
