Well, our hats are off to the state of New Jersey! New Jersey is the only state in the country to have mandatory screening of all new moms for Post-Partum Depression. We are shocked that no other state is doing this! We have the pleasure of speaking to Susan Ellis Murphy, Coordinator of the Post-Partum Depression Support Services for the Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative. In addition to mandatory screening, the state of New Jersey has a website – NJSpeakUp.gov - and a 24 hour hotline – 800-328-3838 – for new moms and families to call if they need help or suspect that they or their loved one are suffering from Post-Partum Depression. Additionally, there is an international hotline too – 800-944-4773 and the following support groups: Post Partum Support International, Post Partum Education for Parents and the National Association of Mothers. Thanks to Dixie for sponsoring our show!
